The Top-Rated HBO Shows on Rotten Tomatoes, “The Sopranos” and “Game of Thrones” Rated Much Lower Than You Think

What are the best shows in the history of HBO?  Well, the top answers probably aren’t the ones you’re thinking.  At least not according to Rotten Tomatoes.  They ranked the top 104 HBO shows, based on their Tomatometer, which aggregates all the reviews a show gets, and gives it a score based on the percentage of good reviews versus bad.

And some of the shows you’d expect at the top, like “The Sopranos”“Game of Thrones”“Veep”, and “The Wire”, didn’t even make the top 20.  Here’s what did:

1.  “The Larry Sanders Show” (1992),  100%

2.  “A Black Lady Sketch Show” (2019), 100%

3.  “Los Espookys” (2019),  100%

4.  “Somebody Somewhere” (2022),  100%

5.  “The Defiant Ones” (2017),  100%

6.  “Random Acts of Flyness” (2018),  100%

7.  “The Lady and the Dale” (2021), 100%

8.  “Painting With John” (2021),  100%

9.  “Barry” (2018),  99%

10.  “I May Destroy You” (2020),  98%

11.  “High Maintenance” (2016),  98%

12.  “Betty” (2020),  98%

13.  “Insecure” (2016) , 97%

14.  “My Brilliant Friend” (2018),  97%

15.  “Band of Brothers” (2001),  97%

16.  “Sally4Ever” (2018),  97%

17.  “Treme” (2010),  97%

18.  “Watchmen” (2019),  96%

19.  “Irma Vep” (2022),  96%

20.  “I’ll Be Gone in the Dark” (2020),  96%

“The Wire” only made it to #27, with a 94% rating, “Veep” is 29th with 93%, “The Sopranos” is 35th, with a 92% rating, and “Game of Thrones” is 49th, with 89%.

The 104th show on the list is “The Time Traveler’s Wife”, which only has a 37% positive rating.
